Catholic Faculty of Theology

In February, the University of Split, Catholic Faculty of Theology  became a member of the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies after signing a general framework cooperation agreement with the European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR).

The Catholic Faculty of Theology in Split is engaged in the promotion of religious cultural heritage through focused research on Saint Jerome and early Christian traditions. Its academic activities, particularly in the fields of pilgrimage, sacred mobility, and historical pilgrimage networks, align closely with the objectives of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.

Central to these efforts is the Faculty’s Hieronymianum Research Centre, which organizes academic seminars and maintains a specialised database dedicated to early Christian heritage. Through these initiatives, the Faculty advances interdisciplinary research and actively contributes to the preservation, interpretation, and promotion of Europe’s religious heritage.

The University Network for Cultural Routes Studies aims to foster research on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, encourage students to explore these themes in their academic work, participate in the annual activities of the Programme, and offer scientific expertise where needed.
