VULTUS SANCTI HIERONYMI

Under the auspices of the Split-Dalmatia County and organized by the Catholic Faculty of Theology of the University of Split and the Catholic publishing house and magazine "Crkva u svijetu", the International Scientific Symposium "Faces of St. Jerome - Vultus sancti Hieronymi" was held on September 29, 2023. Eighteen speakers from Croatia and abroad (Italy, France and Poland) tried to present the faces of St. Jerome in their lectures. This symposium is a continuation of the work of our Hieronymianum Center, headed by Prof. Dr. Ivan Bodrožić, who is also this year's recipient of the Split-Dalmatia County Personal Award for his outstanding contribution to the study of St. Jerome and Christian literature.

At the beginning of the symposium, the guests and lecturers were briefly greeted by the Prefect of Split-Dalmatia County Blaženko Boban, who pointed out that the jubilee 30th anniversary of the formation of the county and the fifth anniversary of the proclamation of St. Jerome as the patron saint of the county were being marked. After the Prefect, Mr. Mate Šimundić, President of the Split-Dalmatia County Assembly, greeted those present, emphasizing the important project of renaming Split Airport to St. Jerome Airport.

On behalf of the hosts, as the Symposium was held in the Bishop's Palace, those present were greeted in Croatian and Italian by the Vicar General of the Split-Makarska Archdiocese, Don Franjo-Frankopan Velić. He congratulated the Prefect and the President of the County Assembly on the County Day and the organization of the "Days of St. Jerome" manifestation. At the end of the greeting, the Dean of our Faculty, Prof. Dr. Šimun Bilokapić, opened the International Scientific Symposium with appropriate words and emphasized that he believes that the speakers have done their best to research St. Jerome, but that St. Jerome has actually questioned and researched them.
